Sangrur, June 19

With polling date fast approaching, all political parties have intensified their campaign in the Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency.

Attacking Opposition parties for patronising corruption and mafia, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday said the AAP government had taken historic decisions in just three months, which the previous dispensations failed to take in decades.

“Farmers have directly sown paddy on 21 lakh acres and moong on 1.25 lakh acres after the state announced to start the direct procurement of the moong crop at the MSP of Rs 7,275 per quintal.”

The CM held roadshows in various villages of the Malerkotla and Mehal Kalan Assembly constituencies in support of party candidate Gurmail Singh.

Lashing out at the SAD, Mann said all senior leaders of the party were rejected by people in the Assembly poll.

Meanwhile, SAD chief Sukhbir Badal said the three-month period of the AAP government was marked by a complete paralysis in governance, coupled with the breakdown of law and order.

Asserting that everyone was living in a state of fear due to the collapse of law and order situation, Sukhbir said businessmen were getting extortion calls. “Buses are being looted in broad daylight even as targeted killings and attacks on state institutions like the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters are on the rise,” he added.

Sukhbir further said despite this mayhem, the CM seemed unconcerned and was happy indulging in cheap publicity like trumpeting the withdrawal of security of Sidhu Moosewala, which led to his murder.

Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, however, said the first three months of the Mann government had been a complete disaster and the situation was going from bad to worse. “They spoke about the Delhi model, which nobody knew. Now forgotting it, they are trumpeting about the ‘Sangrur model’. They will conveniently forget it also after the poll,” he said. — TNS
