Ludhiana administration identifies 9K dengue breeding sites
Aedes Aegypti, the mosquito that spreads dengue virus, has been detected in 9,000 houses and other buildings in Ludhiana. The Health Department has issued about 1,628 challans to several residents and shop owners for ignoring the breeding of mosquitoes.
The district has so far reported 423 confirmed cases of dengue and 998 suspected cases. There has been no dengue-related death.
Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal called for a joint operation by health and civic body officials to check the further spread of dengue.
Civil Surgeon Pardeep Kumar Mohindra informed that a massive test, trace, and treatment campaign was being carried out in the district. He added that adequate arrangements had been made at all government institutions to test and treat dengue and other viral patients. He said 122 fresh cases of dengue were confirmed in the district between November 6 and 22, which took the tally to 423, including 253 from urban areas and 170 patients from rural areas. Out of 988 suspected cases, 253 originated in urban areas and 261 came from rural areas.
