Losing ancestral property drives UP native to end life
A native of Uttar Pradesh, who had come to Abohar with his family a few years ago and worked as a labourer, died at a Bathinda hospital today.
The deceased, identified as Mahesh (42), was the father of two. He had consumed some poisonous substance here last week. The body was brought to the Civil Hospital here for autopsy.
The police have initiated inquest proceedings on the statement of the deceased’s wife Rajni.
She stated that their family had been living in Abohar for the past few years and her husband used to work as a labourer. She said Mahesh’s father, who lived in UP, was addicted to alcohol and sold all his land a few months ago. He died a month ago.
When Mahesh went to UP, he became mentally disturbed due to the shock of losing the entire ancestral property, she stated.
On returning to Abohar, Mahesh consumed some poisonous substance last week. He was admitted to the Civil Hospital here but was referred to Bathinda where he died this morning.
