May have fled abroad

It seems that Raj Jit has fled abroad. He hasn’t responded to the notice regarding attachment of his property. It was expected that he would surrender after the notice to attach his property was issued. But, he’s still on the run. Police sources

Last week, the police had initiated the process to attach his properties after he was declared a proclaimed offender.

The police sources said, “It seems that Raj Jit has fled abroad. He hasn’t responded to the notice regarding attachment of his property.” “It was expected that he would surrender after the notice to attach his property was issued. But, he’s still on the run,” said the sources.

However, cops are not ruling out the possibility that Raj Jit is hiding somewhere in the country. “He has not been spotted at any airport. Thus, it is a speculation that he has fled abroad,” said an official on condition of anonymity.

On October 20, Raj Jit had fled from the office of the Special Task Force (STF) in Mohali when the Punjab and Haryana High Court cancelled his bail. Officials with the STF and the Vigilance Bureau said raids were being conducted to nab him.

Raj Jit has been accused of running a police-drug smuggler nexus by helping tainted cop Inderjit Singh in the departmental inquiries and giving him out of way promotions. His arrested is pending before the Vigilance Bureau in a case of corruption for allegedly owning disproportionate assets. The STF had separately booked Raj Jit for allegedly extorting money from gullible people by falsely booking them in cases of drugs smuggling and also for helping peddlers, besides a drugs smuggling accused Inderjit.

It’s alleged that Raj Jit and his family did transactions worth Rs 13 crore in the past 10 years, which were beyond his known sources of income.
