Moga, July 6
The Moga police on Wednesday booked Lawrence Bishnoi’s rival gangster Jatinder Kumar alias Neela and his associates on allegations of attempt to murder in Tuesday’s district court complex firing incident here.
The Bishnoi gang members had tried to kill Neela in Moga last year; Bishnoi was also named in the case. The Moga police were likely to bring Bishnoi on production warrants here in the ongoing investigation of the attack on Neela and his family.
Bishnoi allegedly had sent gangsters Monu Dagar and Jodhajit Singh to kill Neela. Monu had arrived here from Lucknow to kill Neela but missed the target.
A case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC, Section 25 of the Arms Act and Section 22 of the NDPS Act was registered at Moga City-I police station.
Bishnoi would also be formally arrested in the case, SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana said.
As many as 17 people of the two groups arrived at the sessions court here on Tuesday for hearing in the attempt-to-murder case.
Over an argument in the parking lot, one of the group members fired shots, creating panic in the area. No one was injured in the incident.
