Kiratpur Sahib jeweller robbed of 3 kg of gold, Rs 8 lakh in cash

Four armed men looted around 3 kg of gold and Rs 8 lakh in cash from a jeweller at gun point at Kiratpur Sahib in this district on Sunday night.
Jeweller Rajinder Soni said his son Ankit was injured in the attack by the men.
Rajinder said he runs a jewellery shop in the Kiratpur Sahib market where he lives at the back of the shop with his son and his family. On Sunday night when he was not at home, four men with their faces covered entered their house and tried to tie the hands of Ankit, his wife Nancy and their two daughters, aged seven and four. On this, Nancy and both the girls started crying following which the robbers locked them in a room and took Ankit to the jewellery chest, he said.
DSP Raminder Singh Kahlon said the men before taking jewellery and cash hit Soni with a sharp-edged weapon injuring him seriously in the head and thigh. Soni also fired at the men from his revolver but three of them managed to escape while one of them was found lying unconscious on the spot, who later was declared brought dead at the local hospital, said Kahlon.
The deceased was identified to be a resident of Himachal Pradesh and police teams had been sent to trace the other accused, the DSP said.
