Jasvir S Garhi removed as BSP chief over ‘indiscipline’
Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati has removed Jasvir S Garhi from the post of the party’s state unit president for indiscipline. Garhi has been replaced by Avtar Singh Karimpuri, who has got his second innings as the state president after remaining on the same post from 2014-16.
Although senior party leaders are mum on the sudden removal of Garhi, there is a buzz that all was not well between Garhi and Punjab incharge Randhir S Beniwal.
A tiff was on among the senior leaders over the allegations of ticket sale since the LS elections. A native of Garhi Kanugo village of Nawanshahr, Garhi was himself a candidate from Anandpur Sahib LS seat from where he had lost. “I have committed no indiscipline. I have served with utmost loyalty attending all events of the party even till today,” Garhi said.
Beniwal said, “I cannot say much on this sudden change as the orders have come directly from the top. Many issues were flagged directly to our supremo in Lucknow over which she has perhaps announced this decision.” Karimpuri said, “I have no knowledge of what is going on in Punjab for the past many years as I have been serving the party in other states. I was in HP even today when I got a call from Mayawati ji to immediately return to Punjab with this new assignment.”
