Family members of jailed Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh today demanded an inquiry by a sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the murder case of Gurpreet Singh of Hari Nau village.

Amritpal’s father Tarsem Singh said, “It is a ploy to extend Amritpal’s detention in Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act.” He said his son was in a jail for the past year and a half and security agencies were constantly keeping tabs on his activities.

“If Amrtipal, who has been falsely implicated could execute the murder, then the government must admit that it’s a law and order failure,” he said. Tarsem said the Punjab Police had been playing a partisan role. “Amritpal has been named to save the killers. An impartial inquiry can help in finding the killers,” said Tarsem, adding that they would also approach the Akal Takht Jathedar and request him to raise voice over the atrocities being committed against the Sikh youngsters.
