Former MP Jagmeet Singh Brar on Thursday said that he would soon tour the Gidderbaha Assembly constituency and thereafter take a call to contest the upcoming bypoll.
In a video on his Facebook page, Jagmeet said, "Gidderbaha is my 'janam bhoomi' and 'karam bhoomi'. I was born at Husnar village in Gidderbaha. My supporters are asking me to contest the Gidderbaha bypoll. I am out of Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha since 2004. In the coming days, I will tour Gidderbaha constituency and take a call to contest the by-election."

Jagmeet has served the Congress for a long time in the past and also remained the Congress Working Committee (CWC) member. Later, in 2019, he joined the SAD, but was expelled from the party in December 2022 for alleged anti-party activities. He had recently formed Punjab United Regional Forum and become active on the ground by taking out march against the drug menace.

In 2022, Jagmeet had contested the Assembly election from Maur as a SAD candidate and remained on the third position with 23,355 votes polled to him.
Jagmeet said, "I have contested seven elections against the Badal family, which included two Vidhan Sabha elections from Gidderbaha against Parkash Singh Badal when the latter was Chief Minister and five elections against Sukhbir Singh Badal, but never got less than 50,000 votes polled from Gidderbaha."
