Mansa, July 9

Irked over waterlogged streets and roads in Mansa from past many days due to rains, farmers today registered their protest by planting paddy in a waterlogged street near the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) residence.

Mahinder Singh, Raj Singh, Jagraj Singh and Hardev Singh from the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Dakonda) said they staged a unique protest near the DC residence in Mansa. They highlighted that the rainwater from past many days was being accumulated on roads and under-bridges, disrupting traffic in the city.

They alleged that the municipal council and the district administration had made no arrangements for water drainage leading to public distress. They warned that if immediate measures were not taken, their protest against the administration would become more intense.

Meanwhile, Mansa ADC Nirmal Ouseppachan arrived at the protest site to assess the situation. He assured that efforts were being made to drain out the water.
