City-based industrialists held a meeting with DGP Gaurav Yadav over the issue of continuing protests by farmers. They said these protests had made things difficult for them.

“Farmers’ protest is more political now. I wrote to the PM and the CMs of Punjab and Haryana, urging them to find an amicable solution to the Shambhu border crisis where the farmers have been putting up for long. The road blockades within the state are a more serious development. The police need to prevent such things,” said prominent industrialist Mridula Jain.

She said the recent protests by farmers had disturbed the vehicular movement between Jalandhar and Ludhiana. One of their clients from France got stuck on the road and had to face huge trouble. “Whenever clients coming from other states or countries face issues on Punjab roads, they carry a negative image of our state, which is very dangerous,” she said.

The DGP reportedly said, “We are working in this direction and will find a solution very soon.”
