In Brief: AAP legislator bereaved
Amritsar: Former Inspector General and Amritsar (North) AAP MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh’s wife Madhumati passed away on Saturday. AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also expressed condolences. Madhumita faced difficulty in breathing on Friday and was immediately rushed to a private hospital where her health deteriorated further.
Man ‘beaten’ to death
Sangrur: Balwinder Singh of Aklian village in Mansa was allegedly beaten to death by a woman, her husband and their aide at Longowal village.
Gurcharan Singh, father of Balwinder, told the police that his son and the accused woman were in a relationship. SHO Jatinderpal Singh said all three accused were produced in a court, which remanded them in three-day police custody.
47 cadets clear NDA test
Chandigarh: Forty-seven cadets of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, Mohali, have cleared the written exam for the National Defence Academy (NDA). At present, 21 cadets, who have cleared their service selection board interview, are awaiting the final merit list before joining the forces.
