Improvised explosive device dropped through drone, found near international border
An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) believed to have been dropped by a drone has been recovered near the Indo-Pakistan border.
As per a case registered at the State Special Operation Cell police station in Fazilka, Inspector Satinder Singh Brar said that the Counter Intelligence Party led by Inspector Jatinderjeet Singh informed during patrolling by Fazilka team that some suspicious consignment had been found near Government Primary School in Bahadur Ke village.
The inspector said that personnel of the central security agency led by Vir Bahadur Singh, Assistant Commandant of the Border Security Force (BSF), had recovered the consignment near the Indo-Pak border. The consignment included an iron box, two ‘Uniross’ brand extra heavy-duty batteries, a green bag with strange marking, a packing covered by yellow tape and a transparent tape besides thermocol pieces. The same were handed over to the patrolling police team.
The iron box reportedly carried an IED that might have been dropped for subversive activity but BSF recovered the same well before someone could collect it.
A case was registered under Sections 3, 4, 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908. Further investigation was going on.
