IIT Ropar named centre for excellence in AI for agriculture
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Ropar, has been named as one of the three centres of excellence in artificial intelligence (AI) under the Ministry of Education, Government of India’s key initiative. The IIT, along with its consortium partners, will lead a transformative effort to integrate AI technologies into agriculture.
The other institutes selected as Centres of Excellence in AI are the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, and IIT, Delhi in healthcare, driving innovations in medical research and patient care with AI. IIT Kanpur has been named for centre of excellence for AI in sustainable cities, developing AI-driven solutions for environmental sustainability and urban resilience.
At the official launch event, Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the transformative potential of AI.
