A gang of suspects has been busted in Sriganganagar for honey trapping a man. The police have registered a case of blackmail and extortion on the statement of the victim, who is works as a bank manager in Malout. Three residents of Sriganganagar have been held and efforts were on to nab the fourth suspect, who belongs to Abohar. This is the fourth honey trap case registered this year, wherein suspects of Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh and Abohar had joined hands for the crime.

ASI Dharamveer, who is investigating the case, said Pala Singh of Dullapur Keri village, Sonu of Khat Lubana and Kirandeep Kaur of Odki were arrested while Rajni of Abohar will soon be nabbed.

The complainant, Mukesh, said on August 27, while travelling in an auto rickshaw, he met Rajni, a resident of Abohar. She said that one of her acquaintances was interested in securing a loan from some bank and sought his guidance. On this pretext, Rajni exchanged phone numbers with him. Later, she started talking to him over the phone about the loan process.

He said that on September 1, Rajni made a call and requested him to come to her relative’s house in Bapu Nagar to guide them about the loan process. When he reached the location, Rajni and another woman were present there. Later, two men also reached the house. Threatening to file a rape case against him, they demanded Rs 2 lakh.

According to the complainant, the gang snatched his purse, checked his mobile phone and extorted around Rs 75,000. They repeatedly called him for the remaining amount and threatened to call his wife and inform her about going ahead with the false rape case.

Finally, he approached the police and lodged a complaint. The police have arrested three suspects and their criminal record was under scanner.
