Guv launches campaign against drugs
Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria launched the ‘Nasha Mukt- Rangla Punjab Campaign’ on Gurpurb, marking the martyrdom day of the ninth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Teg Bahadur.
The Governor said this campaign would be aligned with the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’, a national initiative led by the Ministry of Social Justice. While addressing the challenge of cross-border drugs and arms smuggling through drones, Kataria said, “Punjab has a 533km international border, which makes the issue of drug and arms smuggling a big challenge. But the agencies have been making efforts to engage with local village committees to tackle this challenge.”
He added that Punjab had received 26 anti-drone systems to combat cross border drone smuggling.
