Gidderbaha bypoll candidates speakout: Have access to Centre, will bring projects: Manpreet
At some point of time, one never says no in politics, and if the Akalis decide that whoever is Akali would automatically be with the BJP then it would be a one big very happy family. This was stated by BJP candidate from Gidderbaha Manpreet Singh Badal recently in the ‘The Tribune Interview’.
On another query, Manpreet said, “How can there be a fixed match? I represent the BJP, where the national executive takes the decisions. The BJP has made it very clear that it would go solo in Punjab... But I can’t get into a boxing match with Sukhbir. We have resolved our differences. But that doesn’t mean I am trying to favour him or he is trying to favour me.”
Manpreet further said that he was not trying to cash in on the legacy of former CM Parkash Singh Badal, but was obviously inspired by him. “I as a Finance Minister gave 18,000 tubewell connections and changed the cropping pattern from cotton to rice. Further, the water was not potable in this area, thus huge reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment plants were installed in all the villages, which helped in decreasing the number of diseases and cancer as well, thus I am hopeful people will vote for me,” said Manpreet.
He further claimed that his was not a political, but personal relation with Gidderbaha. “However, when I lost the election from here, I was heartbroken and thought that I must move to some other constituency... now, I have direct access to the Finance ministry at the Centre and I can easily bring projects for Gidderbaha. I will also try to get smart city status for Gidderbaha.”
