Gidderbaha byelection will give right direction to Punjab: Tarun Chugh
BJP’s national general secretary Tarun Chugh today said the Gidderbaha byelection was not just to elect an MLA, but to give the right direction to the state, besides changing its condition. He addressed a rally in favour of party candidate Manpreet Singh Badal at a dharamshala here.
“After almost 30 years, the situation is the same now. In 1995, Manpreet Badal won from here. At that time, CM Beant Singh and all his cabinet ministers had campaigned against Manpreet. I appeal to all of you to show the power of vote to the ruling party again. This election result will be a farewell for the ruling AAP dispensation,” said Chugh.
He added, “The AAP government has failed on all fronts. Its latest example is failure in paddy procurement. Further, AAP leaders before forming the state government used to promise that they will end corruption, has it ended now? Have they increased the state’s revenue? The present state government is unable to manage law and order. Gangsters are virtually running the state and the cops are unable to even act against them.”
He attacked the Congress by saying, “Raja Warring should clear his relations with those behind the anti-Sikh riots in Delhi in 1984. Further, the Congress has always taken a stand against the revocation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and delayed the construction of Lord Ram Temple in Ayodhya. I ask you all; will the Congress candidate be able to bring the AMRUT project here? Warring doesn’t have a say beyond Ambala.”
Chugh further said, “Manpreet has the calibre. He has easy access to PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. The Modi government has carried out a number of development works in Punjab and wants to do more, but the state is unable to perform. The state government even failed to make TB wards in hospitals and properly utilise the funds released under the health mission.”
