Four drug peddlers land in police net
The police today arrested a resident of Chuhriwala Dhanna village in Fazilka after recovering 10 packets containing 5,000 intoxicating pills from his possession at Sriganganagar.
The suspect, Harish, was searched on suspicion when he alighted from a bus at Sriganganagar. A case was registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
During initial interrogation, Harish reportedly revealed that he had brought the consignment from Bikaner and it was to be supplied to Kabul Shah, a resident of Ramkot village in Fazilka. Harish also reportedly confessed that he had been reaching out to Kabul Shah in the past also. A police team is now on the lookout of Kabul Shah.
In Hindumalkot, the police arrested Mandeep Singh, alias Deep, a resident of Dhani Kadaka Singh in Abohar, after 7 gm of heroin was recovered from him. The suspect was going on a motorcycle when he was caught with the contraband near an intersection on the Kotha-Khakhan link road. The motorcycle has been confiscated.
Meanwhile, a team of Kotwali police stopped a biker, Monu Arora of Prem Nagar, on a suspicious and his search led to the recovery of 185 gm of opium.
According to police sources, Monu was caught with about 1 kg opium and 47 kg of poppy husk by Sadar police station earlier this year. After being released from jail, he got back into his drug business.
In yet another case, the Wahabwala police stopped and searched a car being driven by Naveen Kumar of Seed Farm Abohar. The cops recovered 34 kg of poppy husk from it. The suspect was arrested. A case was registered against him under the NDPS Act.
