The last day to file nominations for panchayat elections witnessed major chaos across several Block Development and Panchayat Offices (BDPOs). In Naushehra Pannuan, Tarn Taran, five Congress workers were injured in a firing incident by their rivals. At Chogawan block, frustrated candidates forced entry into the office and clashed with staff after waiting in long queues until 6 pm without being able to file nominations.

In Majitha, hundreds of aspirants alleged mismanagement and raised slogans, while in Rayya block, sarpanch and panch candidates protested against the government. Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia visited Majitha’s BDPO office, accusing the government of deliberately hindering opposition candidates from filing their papers.

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President Raja Warring condemned the AAP government’s failure to maintain order, criticising its lack of proper arrangements. Despite the election commission’s directive to conclude the process by 3 pm, filing continued in various blocks until 6:30 pm.
