Amritsar rural SSP Charanjit Singh said the police got a tipoff about associates of USA-based gangster Balwinder Singh, alias Dony Bal, and Portugal-based Manpreet Singh, alias Mann Ghanshampuria.

“The police laid a naka in the Ram Tirath area of Lopoke subdivision. The driver of a car bearing Haryana registration number plate was signalled to stop the vehicle. The occupants, however, opened fire at the police party and tried to flee,” said the SSP.
