Muktsar, March 23
A day after The Tribune highlighted how athlete Kamalpreet Kaur, who recently qualified for Tokyo Olympics, had expressed displeasure at lack of financial aid, the ADC (Development), DSP (H) and DWO today visited her residence at Kabarwala village here and assured her of providing monetary assistance.
Kamalpreet broke the nine-year-old national record in discus throw on Friday and qualified for the Olympics. The athlete had expressed regret that nobody, barring family and friends, had welcomed her when she reached her native village on Monday.
Her father Kuldeep Singh today said: “ADC (D) GS Sarao, DSP (H) Hemant Kumar and DWO Jagmohan Singh today visited us to congratulate my daughter. They further said the DC would honour her and provide financial help. SAD’s Tejinder Singh Midddukhera also visited us and said SGPC would give financial aid.” — TNS
