State Horticulture Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra said on Friday that the total area under horticulture had increased by 42,406 hectares since the current government took office in March 2022. He said the cultivated area had grown from 4,39,210 to 4,81,616 hectares, which indicated a shift towards crop diversification.
The Cabinet Minister said the orchard coverage had grown from 96,686 to 1,03,161 hectares, with an increase of 6,475 hectares for fruit cultivation. He said vegetable cultivation had seen a large increase of 35,009 hectares, with the total area growing from 3,21,466 to 3,56,465 hectares within 28 months.
