In the mother of all political battles in Gidderbaha, neither Congress candidate Amrita Warring nor BJP nominee Manpreet Singh Badal can vote in the constituency. The reason for this is that they are voters of the Muktsar and Lambi Assembly constituencies, respectively.

On the other hand, AAP candidate Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon is a voter of Gidderbaha town.

There are a total of 14 candidates in the fray in Gidderbaha. Amrita, Manpreet and Dimpy are the candidates of the national parties. Further, Amrita is the lone woman candidate in the fray.

Of the remaining 11 candidates, three are of the other registered political parties which are not recognised as national or state political parties. The remaining eight candidates are Independents. Further, of these 11, just five are voters of the Gidderbaha Assembly constituency.

There is an Independent namesake of BJP candidate Manpreet Singh Badal, who is Manprit Singh from Chak Gilzewala village here. Besides, there is an Independent namesake of AAP candidate Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon, who is Hardeep Singh of Duhewala village here.

Faridkot MP denies supporting Amrita

Gidderbaha: After a post went viral on the social media claiming that Sarabjeet Singh Khalsa had lent support to Congress nominee Amrita Warring in Gidderbaha, the Faridkot MP has warned of legal action against persons who circulated the post. Besides, he has asked PCC chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring to clarify if he was behind the act. In a post on his Facebook account, Khalsa claimed that people were being misled by the post featuring his photo. However, he could not be contacted on phone. Raja Warring said, “Khalsa has neither supported us nor have we sought his support.” TNS
