Drive to prevent stubble burning in Malerkotla
Malerkotla, July 6
The district administration has launched a coordinated movement to achieve the target of managing 100 per cent paddy residue during the forthcoming harvesting season.
The administration aims to achieve this by scaling up in-situ and ex-situ crop residue management (CRM) practices in all three subdivisions.
As many as 1,434 pieces of modern equipment, including happy seeders, surface seeders, zero till drills, Straw Management Systems (SMSs), RMB ploughs, culture crop reapers, paddy chopper reapers and balers, have been prepared to this end. DC Pallavi said departments associated with paddy cultivation had been asked to draft a plan for handling paddy residue. Sources in the Agricultural Department said 243 farmers had come forward to procure 371 machines on subsidy.
