Dried fruits robbery case cracked, four arrested

11 criminal cases registered against the prime accused

Days after dried fruits worth several crores were looted from a cold storage facility at Ibban Kalan village, the Amritsar rural police arrested four persons in this connection. Thana Singh and Parveen Singh of Zira, Jaswinder Kumar of Gurdaspur, and Ravinder Singh of Adampur Khadar have been arrested by the police.

The police teams have also recovered huge quantities of dried fruits and other grocery items looted from the storage after detaining the security guard and labourers. The police have recovered 29 bags (weighing 30kg each) of black pepper, 40 bags (weighing 30kg each) of black grams, 189 tins of cashew, 62 boxes of fig, 76 buckets of almond, five bags of turmeric, besides other items.

Amritsar rural SSP Charanjit Singh said the prime accused, Thana Singh, had as many as 11 criminal cases registered against him, while Jaswinder and Ravinder also had one case each registered against them.
