Desh Bhagat University has launched Mata Jarnail Kaur Corpus Fund Scholarship Scheme on Monday in Mandi Gobindgarh to support meritorious, needy, underprivileged, economically backward, physically challenged individuals and girl children, among other categories.

This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to inclusivity and equal education opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds who may face financial or other challenges in pursuing higher education. Desh Bhagat University marked this significant milestone during its celebration program held on campus.

The scholarship fund honours the legacy of Mata Jarnail Kaur and is being initiated with a generous contribution of Rs 1 crore by S Hardev Singh who is an advocate and philanthropist.

Dr Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, expressed his gratitude for the establishment of the fund and highlighted its significance in bridging the gap in educational access. “This scholarship is not only a tribute to Mata Jarnail Kaur but also a step towards fostering equality in education by empowering students who may otherwise be deprived of opportunities due to financial or social constraints,” he said.
