Dental colleges fill all BDS seats
After years of dismal scenario regarding BDS admissions in dental colleges across the state, the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) on Monday announced that all BDS seats have been filled this year.
For the past many years, all professional colleges across the state, including dental colleges, had been facing problem in filling seats due to the exodus of youths to foreign shores. In some dental colleges, over 50 per cent seats had been remaining vacant for the past 5-6 years.
Sixteen dental colleges in the state offer about 1,350 BDS seats. After three rounds of counselling by the BFUHS, 22 of these seats were declared vacant last week. However, all these seats got filled in the stray round of counselling on Monday. The BFUHS is the nodal agency to make admissions to all dental colleges across the state.
