Dengue cases on rise, need to remain alert for next 15 days: Civil Surgeon
To prevent the spread of dengue, the Health Department organised an awareness programme at the Civil Hospital here today.
Civil Surgeon Chander Shekhar Kakkar silently entered the hospital and queued up at the medicine dispensing window. Then he visited different wards to know the ground reality of facilities being provided to patients.
He later addressed a meeting to raise awareness on the vector-borne disease. He said compared to the last year, the administration has been successful in preventing the spread of dengue. There is a need to remain alert for the next 15 days.
The Civil Surgeon said so far, 69 dengue cases had been reported in Abohar. He advised people to frequently change the water of containers in which money plants were kept at homes so as to prevent breeding of dengue larvae. He emphasised the need to clean the water bowls for birds in public places. He said teams had been visiting houses and commercial places to check breeding of mosquitoes during a drive against dengue.
Kakkar said the Health Minister had been apprised of the shortage of doctors at the Civil Hospital here and the latter assured that the vacant posts would be filled soon.
Senior Medical Officer Dr Neerja Gupta and other officials were present. Earlier District Family Welfare Officer Dr Kavita visited houses of some dengue patients, enquired about their condition and assured them of all possible treatment.
