The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) today rejected the Supreme Court-appointed committee’s invite for holding a discussion on farmers’ demands at Panchkula on Wednesday

Farm leader from Haryana Abhimanyu Kohar said both organisations had decided not to participate in the talks. A letter in that regard had been sent to the committee by them, he added. The letter also has the signatures of farm leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is observing an indefinite fast at Khanauri.

In the letter, Dallewal and both morchas have mentioned that the committee has not initiated any concrete steps or made any serious efforts to take up the genuine demands of farmers with the Centre so far. On November 4, a delegation of both morchas met the chairman of the committee on the issue, but to no avail. Moreover, the committee had also not visited the Shambhu and Khanauri protest sites so far. They said they would hold talks only with the Centre.

Dr Sukhmandeep Singh Dhillon, who examined Dallewal on Tuesday, said the health condition of Dallewal was very critical. His kidneys and liver were being affected, he added.

Earlier, Kohar told the gathering at Khanauri that Dallewal had asked him to convey his views from the stage as doctors had advised him to avoid exertion. He said their fight was not against any particular person or political party. It was a fight against the wrong policies of the Centre, he added.

Kohar said Dallewal also thanked the Congress for presenting an adjournment motion in Parliament over the farmers’ issues.
