Assistant Sub-Inspector Sohan Lal Ghorela (54), while out for a morning walk, was struck and killed by a car near the police line gate on the Sriganganagar-Abohar road. The car, driven by Constable Narinder Kumar, who was returning from a wedding with his family, lost control and hit Sohan Lal. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Sohan Lal succumbed to his injuries.

On the basis of a statement by Sohan Lal’s son, Amit, a case has been filed against Constable Narinder Kumar for causing death by negligence. After the postmortem, Sohan Lal’s body was brought back to the police line, where Superintendent of Police Gaurav Yadav, Additional Superintendent of Police Raghuveer Sharma and other senior officers, along with a large group of police personnel, paid their respects.

Sohan Lal Ghorela is survived by his wife, son and two daughters. He had been serving in the crime branch of the Superintendent of Police office in Sriganganagar.
