Constable among two held in Rs 25K graft case
The Vigilance Bureau (VB) has booked Constable Rajinder Kumar, Home Guard volunteer Ravi Kumar and their accomplice Sagar Verma of Dangar Khera village for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.
A VB spokesman said the case had been registered against both the personnel and the middleman following an investigation into a complaint lodged by Vijay Kumar of Dhani Karnail Singh on the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line.
The complainant said cops had demanded a bribe of Rs 2 lakh to release Jaidev, a resident of Nihal Khera village, who was booked in a drugs case and was known to him.
Later, Rajinder and Ravi settled for Rs 1.20 lakh. The complainant alleged that Ravi had taken Rs 25,000 from three persons involved in this case. Vijay had recorded the conversation between the accused and their aide with him and handed over the recording to the VB.
The spokesperson said during investigation, recordings submitted by the complainant confirmed that the accused had accepted bribe money from Vijay.
Rajinder and Sagar had been arrested and Ravi would be nabbed soon, said the VB.
A case has been registered against all three accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB police station, Ferozepur Range.
