Chandigarh, July 19

Punjab Congress chief and Ludhiana MP Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and opposition leader Partap Singh Bajwa have slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the state’s drug overdose death crisis.

Warring said, “Throughout the AAP’s, over the last two-and-a-half years, all we have heard is about timelines for when the drug crisis will end. However, instead of improving, the situation has deteriorated further.”

Bajwa said, “Mann, who also has the state’s Home portfolio, has been the most inefficient Chief Minister.”

He added, “The number of drug overdose deaths is increasing by the day. The AAP government’s much-hyped anti-drug campaign, Nishchay, has also failed to gain traction. Punjab’s future generations are at stake, and Mann, as the state’s Home Minister, must accept responsibility for these deaths,” Bajwa added.

He said that the AAP lacked a robust strategy for dealing with the state’s growing drug problem. CM Mann’s latest deadline for making Punjab a drug-free state, August 15, is fast approaching, he added.
