The Municipal Corporation (MC) of Patiala has expressed serious concerns over delays in road restoration following infrastructure projects. To address the problem, MC chief Dr Rajat Oberoi convened a meeting with representatives from L&T, the sewerage board and MC officials.

During the meeting, L&T was given a deadline of 15 days to complete all pending road restoration work. The company was instructed to prioritise this task and ensure no further delays or negligence. In a significant move, the pending No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Sewerage Board was granted immediately and handed over to the engineering department to move forward with the restoration process.

With the NOCs in hand, the MC has now initiated the tender process for development projects in key areas of the city. These areas include Ajit Nagar, Hira Nagar, Majithia Enclave, Bandugar, Mahindra College, Dhillon Colony, Nabha Road to Tiwana Chowk, Factory Area (Banna to Upkar Nagar), Ekta Nagar, Bhupindra Plaza to Railway Line and Ghuman Nagar.

The roads were initially dug up by L&T as part of the Rs 288 crore Surface Water Project, which allocated Rs 15.60 crore for road reconstruction. The MC is committed to ensuring that the restored roads meet the same high-quality standards as the original infrastructure.
