Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann flagged off the first batch of 72 primary teachers to Finland for professional training here today.

“This marks a significant milestone in Punjab’s education system,” Mann said, emphasising that the initiative is about more than just sending teachers abroad. “It’s an opportunity to explore new pedagogical techniques and innovative ways to shape the future of education in Punjab,” he said.

Mann described education as the backbone of any society, stressing that the state government was committed to ensuring that every child got access to high-quality learning. “Finland has been chosen for its globally renowned education system, which emphasises equality, teacher autonomy and student-centred learning,” he said.

He urged the teachers to return with newfound knowledge and skills, stating, “You are not just travelling for training; you are carrying the dreams and aspirations of millions of children.” The CM believes this experience will transform classrooms and significantly benefit thousands of students.

Mann also spoke about ongoing efforts to rejuvenate the health and education systems in Punjab. “The compulsion to send a child to a government school will soon become a choice as we revamp the education system,” he said, highlighting the establishment of “Schools of Eminence”.

Mann criticised the BJP for neglecting education in the states governed by it. “While we focus on education, the BJP is more concerned about polarising votes along sectarian lines,” he said.
