Candidate’s son attacked in Abohar

Kulwinder Kaur, who is in fray for the post of sarpanch at Rajpura village, alleged that her son was attacked by supporters of rival candidates last night.

She said as the seat had been for the Scheduled Caste women, she filed her nomination papers. She said her rivals had been pressurising her to withdraw her papers.

Kulwinder said, “Yesterday evening, my son Surinder Singh was campaigning. Suddenly, four car-borne occupants attacked him. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to Faridkot from the Abohar Civil Hospital.”

She said the accused also tried to hit her but she escaped. The police said they were probing the matter and would soon record the statement of Surinder, who had been referred to GGS Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot.
