BKU (Ekta-Ugrahan) supports farm unions’ decision to reject govt’s offer; oppose use of force on peaceful protest
Chandigarh, February 21
Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta-Ugrahan) on Wednesday appreciated the decision of protesting farmer unions to reject Central Government’s offer of giving 5 years MSP through contract farming to those who sow five crops, instead of cultivating paddy and wheat.
Organisation’s president Joginder Singh Ugrahan and general secretary Sukhdev Singh Kokri Kalan said that the only solution to the issue of MSP is to call a special session of the Parliament and guarantee MSP is given on 23 crops.
“We strongly oppose the Central government’s steps to use force and suppress the ongoing peaceful struggle of farmers for their legitimate demands,” they said in a joint statement.
“The ruling BJP wants to give another proof to the corporate class by violently suppressing the power of farmers that has emerged at the national level. We rebuke the Central Government that they should not adopt such selfish politics and be ready to face political consequences, if they indulge in any violence against farmers,” they said.
“In such adverse situation, we will join in with full force and ready to strengthen the common pressure of the farmers’ community and turn away the oppression,” the union leaders said.
