BJP Punjab secretary Sukhpal Singh Sra was arrested by police on Tuesday after he allegedly pelted stones at an inter-faith couple’s house in Bathinda.

A Muslim man and a Hindu girl had recently married and they were staying at a house in Jogi Nagar. Irked over the inter-faith union, the BJP leader and his supporters, along with the woman’s parents, termed the marriage as ‘Love Jihad’ and pelted stones at the couple’s house.

The woman lodged a complaint with police, after which Sra was arrested. Sra was earlier involved in a religious conversion controversy after he associated with the VHP.
