In judicial remand since August 13, former Congress minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu’s custody in jail was extended till September 5.
The Ludhiana-based leader had been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on August 1 during his interrogation in the suspected case of violation of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. He has been accused of tweaking the transportation tender policy in the Department of Food and Civil Supplies as the minister.

Ashu was produced in the court of District and Sessions Judge-cum-PMLA Judge Nirbhow Gill through video conferencing from the Kapurthala jail. Prior to his judicial remand, he remained in the ED’s custody for 10 days.
