Behbal Kalan police firing case shifted to Chandigarh

The Court of Additional Sessions Judge, Faridkot, has issued directions to send the file related to the Behbal Kalan police firing case of 2015 to a court in Chandigarh and asked the prosecution and accused in the case to appear there on July 29 for further proceedings.

The move has come about one and a half months after the Punjab and Haryana HC transferred the trial in the case from Faridkot to Chandigarh. In this case, many police officers, including the then Moga SSP, was booked for the alleged killing of two protesters in October 2015.

Charanjit Sharma, Moga ex-SSP, and an accused in the case had approached the HC in 2019, demanding the transfer of the trial in the case from Faridkot to outside the state.
