Despite the Punjab and Haryana Court’s order, 344 assistant professors and 67 librarians have been waiting for two months to receive their appointment letters from various government colleges across the state.

The court upheld the recruitment process of 1,091 assistant professors and 67 librarians on September 23, 2024. However, only 500 assistant professors have managed to join their duties so far.

Convener of the Assistant Professor and Librarian Front, Punjab, Jaspreet Singh Sivian announced that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s residence would be gheraoed on November 24. He said his front had been approaching the higher education authorities to issue appointment letters, but no one listened to their voice.

Sivian added that the government did not seem to take their issue seriously, hence they would intensify their agitation soon.
