Assembly bypoll: BJP Barnala nominee slams AAP over ‘scrapped’ hospital project
The BJP candidate for the Barnala Assembly byelection, Kewal Singh Dhillon, on Monday accused the AAP Government of “scrapping” a project, ‘Super Speciality Hospital, Barnala’. The foundation stone of the project was laid on October 2, 2021, by the then Deputy Chief Minister, OP Soni, during the Congress regime in the state.
Dhillon visited the site of foundation stone on Monday and flayed the AAP Government for “scrapping” the project, which he claimed to have brought with great efforts and by using his influence for the people of the region.
Talking to The Tribune over the phone, the BJP nominee said he had got approved the Rs 100 crore project from the then state government and a sum of Rs 40 crore was also sanctioned then to the Health Department for starting the construction work. Besides, he had also got six acres transferred from the Barnala Municipal Council for the construction of the hospital, which were now returned to the civic body, he claimed, adding that the land was now full of garbage and bushes.
Dhillon, who had remained Congress MLA from Barnala for two consecutive terms, said by scrapping the project, the state government betrayed the people of Barnala. He said if he won the byelection, he would make efforts for the revival of the project.
