A large number youths staging protest against Agnipath scheme (Tour of Duty) of the Ministry of Defence blocked Anandpur Sahib-Nangal highway, here today.

Led by Punjab Students’ Union president Ranvir Singh Randhawa and Ropar district president of Kirti Kisan Morcha Veer Singh Barrwa, the protesters first gathered at the Panj Piara Park from where they took out a protest march and later sat on a dharna at Naina Devi Chowk on the highway in morning.

They, however, lifted the dharna after an hour by handing over a memorandum for Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to duty magistrate Gurdeep Singh.
