Arrest us: Bittu, other BJP leaders to cops over ‘fake’ cases against party workers
Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu and other BJP leaders today reached the office of the Commissioner of Police (CP) here and offered to get themselves arrested if the police were to register “fake” cases against the party workers.
The leaders met the CP after an FIR was registered against former BJP councillor Gurdeep Singh Neetu on Thursday night for allegedly campaigning beyond the time allowed by the Election Commission for the MC polls and offering liquor to seek votes at an eatery in the Suffiyan Chowk area.
The leaders said instead of registering “fake” cases against BJP workers and supporters, the police should arrest them.
Senior police officials, including DCPs Jaskaran Singh Teja and Shubham Aggarwal, had called the leaders for a meeting over the matter. Talking to The Tribune, Bittu said, “The ruling party was attacking BJP workers and supporters out of insecurity.”
