Army’s marathon sets stage for Dec 8 ‘Honour Run
Lt Gen Harbinder Singh Vandra, Chief of Staff, HQ South Western Command, flagged off a 5-km Promo Run at National Corps Complex near Jaipur to foster a sense of gratitude towards the Indian Army’s heroes and promote a healthy lifestyle.
This was a promo run, organised as a precursor to the main event ‘Honour Run,’ which is scheduled on December 8.
Over 500 army personnel, veterans, and local runners participated in today’s run. This was the second run organised after the success of the first promo run on October 13.
The main event, Honour Run’s theme is ‘Ek Daul Veeron Ke Naam,’ to pay tribute to soldiers and their families.
It will feature timed races of 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km along with a non-timed 3 km category.
Colonel Amitabh Sharma said the December 8 run would be flagged off by Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister for Industry and Commerce. Several prominent marathon runners, NCC cadets, school children and thousands of citizens were expected to participate in the landmark event, the Colonel added.
