Anshul Batra bags 4 gold medals at National Shooting Championship
Anshul Batra of Abohar made history by winning four gold medals in all the rifle shooting events he participated in at the 33rd All India GV Mavlankar Shooting Championship, held from November 3 to 7 at the Vattiyoorkavu Shooting Range in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. His achievement earned him a heroic welcome upon his return to his hometown today.
Anshul also set a new record by scoring a perfect 400/400 points — an unprecedented feat in the 33-year history of the championship, which has been hosted by the Kerala Rifle Association (KRA) under the aegis of the National Shooting Association of India. In recognition of his extraordinary performance, the KRA and the Government of Kerala offered Anshul free coaching and practice facilities.
Upon his return, Anshul was warmly greeted by his father, Saurav Batra, a businessman, along with family members, relatives and social activists. The welcome ceremony at his residence in Suraj Nagari was a grand affair, with citizens showering him with flower petals and performing traditional rituals. His grandparents were overjoyed, offering their blessings.
Anshul, who participated in four different categories of rifle shooting, emerged victorious in all, clinching four gold medals.
Speaking about his triumph, Anshul said, “I am feeling great after this victory. It was made possible thanks to the support of my parents and family. I have been practicing tirelessly for the past few years and today I am reaping the rewards of my hard work.”
