Ahead of three-day Congress stir, Harish Rawat meets Navjot Sidhu
Amritsar, October 1
Amidst reports of bringing Congress firebrand leader Navjot Singh Sidhu to the mainstream ahead of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s proposed Punjab tour, AICC general secretary Harish Rawat held a closed-door meeting with Sidhu at his residence here this evening.
Earlier, after paying obeisance at the Golden Temple, Rawat said Sidhu was part and parcel of the party and would remain so in the future.
Asked about Sidhu’s absence from party programmes, especially due to his reported differences with CM Capt Amarinder Singh, Rawat said Sidhu would take part with “full zeal” in party’s future programmes.
“There were no serious differences. I, as a big brother, would love to resolve the differences, if any. We are friends and part of the same family,” he said. On Sidhu holding a rally in Amritsar without Congress flags, he said: “When you see him in party’s programme, he will be carrying Congress flags in both hands.” — TNS
