As AAP legislator Jaswant Singh Gajjanmajra got bail from the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday, residents of the Amargarh Assembly segment hope that development works would pick up pace once again in the area.

Gajjanmajra was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in an alleged bank fraud case on November 6, 2023.

The residents claimed that almost all development works in the segment came to a standstill after the arrest of Gajjanmajra.

Overflowing drains, poor solid waste management and deteriorating condition of roads became talk of the town.

Vikas Krishan Sharma, president, Municipal Council, said commitment of the authorities towards the residents took a back seat due to absence of the MLA.

“Though we tried our best to address grievances of the residents, certain issues could not be resolved,” said Sharma.

Dr Parminder Kaur Gajjanmajra said her husband would soon hold meetings with locals to address their pending matters.
