The AAP’s ‘shukrana yatra’, to celebrate the thumping victory in the byelections and signalling the beginning of a focused campaign ahead for the 2027 Assembly elections, culminated in Amritsar today.

The AAP leaders — led by newly elected state president Aman Arora and working president Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi, along with Cabinet ministers Harbhajan Singh ETO, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal and Laljit Singh Bhullar, local MLAs and party workers — paid obeisance at the Golden Temple.

Arora said, “We have come to thank the Guru and perform ‘ardas’ for ‘sarbat da bhalla’ (welfare of all) on reaching the land of Golden Temple.”

He said this yatra is an assurance to the people of Punjab that their faith would never be betrayed. He said that the victory in the byelections was a testament to the party’s policy, hard work and commitment towards establishing a progressive and prosperous Punjab.

“The splendid win in the byelections reflects the faith people have in the AAP governance. Today marks not only a day of celebration but also a reaffirmation of our commitment to the people of Punjab. The civic body polls are approaching. Together, we will register a similar victory,” he said.

Out of four seats in the bypoll, AAP won three seats — in Chabbewal, Dera Baba Nanak and Gidderbaha — while Congress pocketed one seat in Barnala.

He said that AAP is a family and all would be taken into confidence before taking any decision. “In politics, opportunities come from challenges only. All our leaders, office-bearers and volunteers will work for the progress of Punjab,” Arora added.

Throughout the journey, AAP leaders were warmly welcomed with flowers, chants of “Inquilab Zindabad,” and “Rang de Basanti Chola”.

Sherry Kalsi said, “AAP has grown from strength to strength, driven by the dedication and hard work of its leaders, volunteers and workers. This journey, supported by every AAP worker, has been one of integrity, transparency and commitment to the people.”

The yatra also coincided with the foundation day of AAP.

Yatra welcomed in Jalandhar

Earlier, Arora and Kalsi received a warm welcome as their yatra passed through Jalandhar this evening.

The yatra was welcomed at Rama Mandi here. Party leaders including MLA Raman Arora, Inderjit Kaur Mann, Karambir S Ghuman, newly-elected MLA Ishank Kumar, ex-MLA Pawan Tinu, Cantt halqa incharge Rajwinder Thiara and others received the leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Aman Arora said, “We are here to thank you all for the bypoll result. We also want to thank you for supporting the party which was founded by our supremo Arvind Kejriwal on this day. Even though I have been appointed by the party as the state president, I will work like your ‘sewadar’. We are all what we are because of you. I request you all to gear up for the forthcoming civic body elections and help the party surge in all the cities.”
