Jalandhar West bypoll: AAP distributing freebies on poll day eve, claims Opposition

On the eve of the Jalandhar West bypoll, Congress and BJP leaders alleged that workers of AAP were engaged in distributing freebies among voters.
While Jalandhar MP Charanjit Channi alleged that suit pieces meant for women and ration packets were being distributed in Tej Mohan Nagar, supporters and the brother of BJP candidate Sheetal Angural gheraoed a vehicle learnt to be owned by an AAP volunteer meant to be used for distributing liquor and ration in the area. The BJP workers took the car to police station for investigation.
Meanwhile, EVMs and kits were handed over to the polling staff at Lyallpur Khalsa College here and the teams were taken to all 181 polling booths in the Assembly.
A total of 1,71,963 voters are eligible to cast vote from 7 am to 6 pm tomorrow. These include 89,629 men and 82,326 women. DC Dr Himanshu Aggarwal said 10 model booths had also been set up in the area. He said 872 employees had been designated as polling staff and 96 micro-observers.
He said 218 CCTV cameras had been installed at the polling booths.
